  • WikiLeaks lawyer Michael Ratner wrote an op-ed on recent disclosures about GCHQ spying on WikiLeaks and its readers and the threat it poses to free press.
  • The British government has appointed Colin Roberts to be the governor of the Falkland Islands. WikiLeaks cables show Roberts' comments regarding another British territory, the Chagos Islands, and his push to prevent the Chagossians from returning to them.   • In an interview with Cherwell, Chris Hedges discussed a recent meeting with Julian Assange and the difficulties he faces due to the constant surveillance he is under.
  • London mayor Boris Johnson slammed Julian Assange for costing police £5.3m to monitor the Ecuadorian Embassy. WikiLeaks tweeted in response, "London Mayor admits police spending £5.3million of surveillance on Assange over last 18 months: £400/hour - how much for GCHQ, MI5?"
