WikiLeaks News:
  • In response to VISA and MasterCard cutting of some Russian banks due to US sanctions, President Vladimir Putin has stated that Russia will set up its own payment system. This idea is not new to Russia, as a 2010 cable released by WikiLeaks shows the US lobbied Russia on behalf of VISA and MasterCard due to concerns a Russian system would disadvantage American businesses.
  • Detainee assessments released by WikiLeaks are available of the five Guantanamo prisoners who may be moved to Uruguay.

Chelsea Manning News:
  • Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, has announced that he plans to retire from Congress after his current term is finished. In 2010 Rogers argued that the death penalty was a suitable punishment for Chelsea Manning and that she "clearly aided the enemy", a charge which she was acquitted of in her 2013 trial.
