Julian Assange News:
  • During a talk at Cambridge Union Society, comedian Russell Brand stated that he has met with Julian Assange.
  • British commentator Joshua Rozenberg discussed the importance of Twitter during Julian Assange's extradition hearings, as legal and court reporters realized Twitter users had "scooped" them by reporting the hearing first. He also mentioned how Sky News was able to find out more quickly about Mr Assange's case by going on Twitter.
  • In an interview with The Guardian, MEGA founder Kim Dotcom discussed his inspiration stating, "We are all children of Assange. The internet is by the people, for the people."

Chelsea Manning News:
  • Chelsea Manning was awarded the Sam Adams Award for Integrity in Intelligence for "casting much-needed daylight on the true toll and cause of civilian casualties in Iraq; human rights abuses by U.S. and “coalition” forces, mercenaries, and contractors; and the roles that spying and bribery play in international diplomacy." Pvt. Manning will be recognized at an award ceremony at the Oxford Union Society on February 19. Previous recipients of the award include Julian Assange, Edward Snowden, and Thomas Drake.
