  • Journalist Juan Cole wrote on Lavabits, Edward Snowden, and WikiLeaks censorship, drawing comparisons to the age of Absolutism.

Julian Assange News:
  • Julian Assange issued a statement on President Obama's plans to reform the NSA surveillance programs. He commented, "The simple fact is that without Snowden’s disclosures, no one would know about the programs and no reforms could take place."

Bradley Manning News:
  • People are beginning to organize events in support of Bradley Manning after his sentence is handed down, which is expected between August 19-21.
