  • Updates continue on NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden's situation:
    • Julian Assange discussed Mr Snowden and the NSA leaks in an in-depth interview with ABC's This Morning. Full transcript of the interview is available. 
    • Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa said that U.S. Vice President Joe Biden requested that he does not grant asylum to Mr Snowden.
    • Julian Assange's lawyer Baltasar Garzón said that he could not defend Mr Snowden because defending Mr Assange takes all of his time. He also commented that Mr Assange is being deprived of his freedoms for defending freedom of expression.

Julian Assange News:
  • In an interview, retiring ABC journalist Andrew Fowler discussed Julian Assange saying, "I think what Assange did was to show how badly we [journalists] had done our job, and how much we'd become part of the corporate state, and the corporate entities." He also drew comparisons between Mr Assange and Rupert Murdoch.
